Camping on Drummond Island

Camping on Drummond Island will provide a definite high point to your camping life.Beautiful sunsets, magnificent vistas, mournful coyote calls, seagulls, ducks and hundreds of other species of wildlife will add real interest to your camping experience.  The Island provides a wide range of camping opportunities; everything from remote primitive sites on state land to modern sites on picturesque island shorelines.  You will find campgrounds with full hookups (water, electric, sewer, shower house, heated pool, etc) as well as thousands of acres of State land for primitive camping away from "civilization”.

Drummond Island Township Park

The Drummond Island Township Park is located approximately 6 miles from the Ferry Dock. A directional sign on the left-hand side of M-134 leads you down a very winding hard packed gravel road to the park entrance (0.5 miles). It is a first come, first served park, no reservations. You can elect to use the park on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

One of the beauties of this park is its vast tree canopy, located on the rocky shore facing west. The sunsets are gorgeous! One section of the park leads you to a sand beach, where the water is nice and shallow about 100 yards out. From the beach you can walk to a neighboring small island, which the kids really enjoy.

The park can accommodate RV’s (max. 31 ft).as well as tents. There are 46 sites; three quarters of the sites have electric hook-up. There are two spigoted drinking water wells, concrete boat launch ramp, centrally located pavilion and out houses. Each campsite provides a picnic table and fire pit. Fire wood can be purchased at Wazz’s Party Plus, Sune’s Home Center and sometimes in the park. Grocery stores and restaurants are about two miles east.

The Drummond Island Heritage Trail located next to the park is another nice feature. This trail is utilized for hiking, snowshoeing, bird watching, nature walking. The lower section is approximately one mile, and the upper section is another mile.
